Coincidence?

Ever watch NCIS? Gibbs would tell you that there's no such thing as a coincidence. Like the fact that my washer blows up 3 days before tax-free appliance weekend? Who knew that Obama's stimulus money was going to benefit me in any shape, form, or fashion... That being said, I've been researching consumer reports, and weighing the benefits of the good old fashioned top loaders (like I have. correction: HAD), or the fancy, pretty, colorful new front loaders that look so cool. Oh yeah, and cost double. One thing I've been reading pretty consistently is that people have problems with mold? Mold around the door, and seal? I need comments, people. Who loves theirs, and who hates theirs? And why?

Doh I can't remember the make and model of our front loaders but I will get that to you. We've had them since Feb. and in the beginning we did have some mildew. Then I remembered what we do in the Temple after washing the bap. clothing...we leave the washer door open. If you crack it a little after using the washer you shouldn't have a problem. At least we don't have a problem any more. P.S....either get the pedestals or have your handy man build a riser. Those front loaders sit too low to the ground w/o it. Email me if you got more questions.

What she said. Mine are front load, Samsung brand. Its the middle of the road model, not the cheapest and not the most expensive. I crack my door too everyonce in a while and haven't had mold or mildew in the 9 months that I've had them. My MIL has her front loader for 9 or 10 years and hasn't has one speck of mildew or mold. Hope that helps!! (Get the front loader, sooo much better!)

I want one. That is all I can contribute.

We like the reduced amount of water it uses, but learned by experience that we have to leave the washer door open to avoid mildew...

Transitioning from a washboard and tub :-) to a front loader was good, but our greatest transition in appliances was my installing a flash water heater like I had used in Europe- our gas bill dropped by about two thirds!

I want one too. That is all I can say...and I do remember from the Bap laundry days that we left the door cracked a little. And I never saw mold.
